President franklin d. roosevelt
FDR was elected president in 1933, and was the only president elected 4 times. He went out of his way to become a great president. He expaned the role of government in the nation. FDR believed that the Government should take action during the great depression. He created the New Deal. He also believed in the relief for citizens which is the safety net. During his first day of presidency, he declared a war on the economic depression. He was ready to get rid of it the moment his hands were given the power. FDR told the people that his plan to stop the depression was very different from hoovers. He wanted to bring the government as much as possible. He didn't believe that people should fight for themselves. He says. "this nation asks for action, and action now, our greatest primary task is to put people to work." FDR acted quickly. He took the first 100 days to create a number of program with the congress to approve to help the depression. "There are many ways in which it can be helped, but it can never be helped merely by talking about it. We must act and act quickly" FDR said in his speech on declaring war on the great depression. He wanted to tackle down the depression with the help of the programs he put in power.
This is the speech Franklin D Roosevelt gave during his inauguration. He says how he will take down the great depression. He tells the nation that action will be taken now. These are the most memorable quotes FDR said on his first day of presidency.
